Welcome to On Education, a blog that provides an educator/researcher/parent’s perspective on education in today’s digital world.
In 2024, the federal government released the latest version of its National Educational Technology plan. This plan challenges educators to use computer technology geared toward active use. Active use involves:
- coding
- immersive simulations
- media production
- interaction with experts
- making global connections
- design
- peer collaboration
The National Educational Technology plan presents some worthy aspirations. However, the challenge for many educators is learning how to incorporate new ideas into teaching practices. Traditional teaching styles dominate classrooms and new ways of teaching need to emerge.
